SOCOM Team Wins 2019 Packard Award
The Tactical Assault Kit Configuration Steering Board team (SOCOM) has received the David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award for “its exemplary efforts in demonstrating the game-changing impact a successful, up-to-date, modern software development program has on enhancing combat operations for the warfighter by leveraging commercial technology with a government software core.” The team is one of five across the DoD that received the award, which recognizes “best acquisition practices and their contributions toward exemplary performance and innovation in acquiring and delivering products and capabilities for the warfighter.”
Among the winning team are five outstanding AGS employees, led by Scott Loescher, a senior acquisition program manager supporting the Special Operations Forces and Personnel Recovery Division in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. Together, they accomplished the ambitious effort of rapidly developing early strategies and program concepts for a new software development environment. The Joint TAK Product Center began with the establishment of a Configuration Steering Board that transformed a single-service program into a truly joint-services program to deliver capabilities that support all DoD branches, USSOCOM and federal civilian law enforcement agencies. AGS team members provided support to analyze resource requirements and establish operating procedures based on industry best practices, while infusing cutting edge agile development processes for government software products. AGS extends a hearty congratulations to Scott, Chris Zevallos, Doug Puckett, Jeff Hall and Denise Coyle on their exceptional contributions to this esteemed project.
