Woodard Uses Give Back Day to Support Local Schools

Jeffery Woodard served as a judge at the Colorado Springs Centennial Speech and Debate Tournament

Jeffery Woodard, a Senior Logistician supporting the Space Surveillance Telescope program at Peterson AFB, CO, recently used his Give Back Day hours to support local schools in his community. Jeff volunteered on the Judging Panel for the Middle School Centennial State Speech and Debate Tournament, held in Colorado Springs in February.  The debaters ranged from age 12-18 and represented home, public, private and charter schools. They focused on one of two topics:  ‘Should Biological Engineering Progress be Valued over Restraint’ and ‘Should AI be Used in the Federal Government to Determine Judicial Outcome.’ Jeff noted, “Experiencing our next generation work though cognitive dissonance and respectfully answering opposition gave me a great sense of pride- knowing these young adults are growing up with the tools to work though their peers’ differences in a proper and critically-minded way.”

AGS initiated Give Back Day in 2019, providing each employee with one paid day off per calendar year to support a community organization of their choice. AGS co-founders Susan Thibodeau and Bert Rogers believe that building community connections is an integral part of maintaining a strong business, and encourage AGS employees to support community causes they believe in.
